1811. DRDO transfers 9 defence technologies to 10 Indian firms to expand defence manufacturing base
- On June 9, 2025, DRDO transferred nine advanced defence technologies to ten Indian firms, including Bharat Electronics, BEML, Tata Advanced Systems, and Bharat Forge, under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
- The technology handover took place at DRDO’s Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (VRDE) in Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra, led by Dr. Samir V. Kamat, DRDO Chairman.
- The move aims to boost indigenous defence manufacturing, reduce import dependence, and strengthen the public-private defence ecosystem following successful performance during Operation Sindoor.
1812. Boost for ‘Make in India’: BEL, BEML, Bharat Forge in focus, DRDO transfers 9 defence techs to 10 firms
- On 9 June, 2025. It was reported that, The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has transferred nine advanced technologies to ten Indian industries to accelerate manufacturing, reduce import dependence, and strengthen the link between research and production.
- The premier defence research organisation stated that this step advances DRDO’s vision of building a robust defence industrial ecosystem involving both public and private players.
- The initiative marks a significant milestone in the Aatmanirbhar Bharat mission to develop India’s domestic defence sector by equipping Indian industries with state-of-the-art defence technologies.
1813. राफेल जेट में ‘मेक इन इंडिया’ का टच, क्या भारत ग्लोबल एयरोस्पेस हब बनने के लिए तैयार है?
- फ्रांस की एयरोस्पेस कंपनी डसॉल्ट एविएशन और भारत के टाटा ग्रुप ने मिलकर हैदराबाद में राफेल लड़ाकू विमानों का फ्यूजलेज बनाने का फैसला किया है। फ्यूजलेज विमान का मुख्य ढांचा होता है।
- यह समझौता भारत और फ्रांस के बीच हुए 63,887 करोड़ रुपये के बड़े समझौते का हिस्सा है। ऐसा पहली बार है कि डसॉल्ट कंपनी फ्रांस के बाहर राफेल विमान के फ्यूजलेज का उत्पादन करेगी।
- समझौते में भारत की नौसेना के लिए 26 राफेल-मरीन जेट विमान खरीदे जाएंगे। इन विमानों की डिलीवरी 2028 से 2030 के बीच होने की उम्मीद है।
1814. UPI Service: PhonePe launches non-internet UPI payments for feature phones
- On 8 June 2025 It was reported that, PhonePe acquired the GSPay app, which enables UPI payments on feature phones using SMS without internet, making digital transactions accessible for users without smartphones.
- GSPay, launched in 2023 by Gupshup, was based on UPI 123PAY technology; after acquiring it, PhonePe announced plans to develop its own UPI app for feature phones using this technology.
- The initiative empowered crores of users in rural and low-internet areas, allowing them to send money, recharge, or pay bills safely via *99# or offline QR codes, thus supporting the goal of Digital India.
1815. UK supports India in fight against terrorism: Lammy
- UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy visited India and met Prime Minister and ministry of External Affairs of India, expressing strong support for India’s fight against cross-border terrorism, especially after the Pahalgam terror attack.
- Lammy discussed the historic Free Trade Agreement (FTA) signed on May 6, 2025 highlighting that it could boost bilateral trade by over £25 billion annually, and emphasized deeper cooperation in trade, defence, technology, and clean energy.
- Both sides also held the first Strategic Exports and Technology Cooperation Dialogue on June 3, 2025 to promote trade in critical technologies, while Lammy reiterated the UK's interest in strengthening the strategic partnership with India.

1816. Andhra Pradesh and Nvidia sign MoU to advance growth of AI ecosystem
- The Andhra Pradesh government signed an MoU with Nvidia on June 7, 2025, to develop the state's AI ecosystem by providing curriculum support and training to 10,000 engineering students over two years.
- Chief Minister announced plans to establish India's first AI University, in collaboration with Nvidia, to boost infrastructure, research, and innovation in the state.
- The state also announced the development of India’s first Quantum Computing Village in Amaravati, a 50-acre facility to support quantum research, with IBM and TCS finalizing the infrastructure for hosting IBM Quantum System Two.
1817. India launches ‘Ayush Nivesh Saarthi’ portal to boost investment in traditional medicine
- On 5 June, 2025, It was reported that, The Government of India launched the 'Ayush Nivesh Saarthi' portal on May 29, 2025, aiming to attract domestic and global investment in the traditional medicine and wellness sector.
- The portal was developed by the Ministry of Ayush in collaboration with Invest India, integrating policies, incentives, and real-time support to transform India into a global hub for Ayush-based healthcare.
- Union Ministers highlighted the sector’s investment potential, emphasizing 100% FDI, the use of over 8,000 medicinal plant species, and India's growing role in the global wellness economy.
1818. Tripura Raj Bhavan installs rooftop solar power plant
- On 7 June , 2025, Tripura Raj Bhawan installed a 40 KW rooftop solar power plant, launched by Tripura Governor , to promote clean energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
- The state government initiated a project to build 100 MW of solar capacity, aiming to supply electricity to 80,000 poor families using under 100 units monthly.
- Solar power was provided to 266 households under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, as part of Tripura’s mission to install solar systems in 50,000 homes by March 2027.
1819. STPI-Hyderabad clocks Rs 1.4L cr software exports in FY 24-25
- On 8 June, 2025, It was reported that, STPI-registered IT units in Hyderabad exported software worth around ₹1.42 lakh crore in FY 2024-25, as part of over ₹10 lakh crore in exports from STPI units across India.
- STPI supported over 1,400 startups through 24 Centres of Excellence (CoEs) and NGIS, with 44% of them led by women entrepreneurs, many from small towns.
- STPI Hyderabad housed two CoEs, IMAGE and Kalpataru, which successfully nurtured 92 and 42 startups respectively, focusing on gaming, AI, and Industry 4.0 technologies.

1820. Nibe Limited receives technology transfer from DRDO for Modular bridging system
- On 7 June, 2025, It was reported that, Nibe Limited received the Transfer of Technology (ToT) from DRDO for the indigenous Modular Bridging System to support the "Make in India" and "Atmanirbhar Bharat" initiatives.
- The Modular Bridging System was developed by DRDO as a mobile, mechanically launched bridge capable of deploying up to 46 meters for tracked and wheeled vehicles.
- Nibe Limited was granted exclusive rights for 10 years to manufacture and supply the system to the Indian Armed Forces and government agencies.
